The ‘Simple Finder mode’ hides desktop files, and won’t let anyone open a new Finder window. Only applications in the Dock can be launched. Note that Spotlight can still be used for launching items. This command could be a nice alternative for setting up restrictions without a guest user account. Click Finder ▸ Run Full Finder, and then type in your admin password to start Finder in normal mode.

Disable the rounded corners in QuickTime Player X
It’s possible to disable the rounded window corners while playing a movie in QuickTime, use the following command to disable them.

It’s possible to enable the auto-play feature for video files in Quicktime Player X. Use the following Terminal command:
Disable Dashboard in Mac OS X
It is possible to completely disable OS X Dashboard. On old Mac’s this could save some memory and cpu resources. Use the following command and kill the current running Dashboard.
iTunes: Disable access to Podcasts
Disable the Podcast functionality within iTunes. After applying this command the options will disappear in the navigation bar (Store section) and all other menu options within iTunes v7.1 and above.
Never display the Quicktime player X title bar
It’s possible to hide the title bar within in a Quicktime player X window. The titlebar automatically shows up when the mouse pointer is active in the window. To disable this behavior, quit Quicktime X and apply the following command:
iTunes: Disable the use of plugins
Disable the use of plugins within iTunes. After applying this command active plugins will be disabled and all other menu options referring to plugin related options will not show up.
